OUR FRAMEWORK
What the EYFS actually means for your child
The Early Years Foundation Stage is the standard used across the United Kingdom for children up to five. It sets out what young children should be learning, and — just as importantly — how they should be learning it.
In practice it means learning through play rather than worksheets, teachers who observe each child and adjust to them, and clear development milestones so nothing is left to chance. It is why our days look joyful and unstructured from the outside, and are carefully planned underneath.
THREE AREAS OF DEVELOPMENT
How your child grows with us
MINDS
Cognitive and creative
Language and early literacy, numbers and mathematical thinking, simple science, music and art — explored through thematic units that change through the year.
BODIES
Physical development
Gross motor skills through climbing, running and outdoor play, and fine motor skills through drawing, threading, building and pouring.
HEARTS
Social and emotional
Sharing, turn-taking, naming feelings and resolving small conflicts — the foundations of confidence, in groups small enough that every child is known.
A DAY AT GOOD BEGINNINGS
The rhythm of the day
Young children settle when the shape of the day is familiar. Ours repeats the same four movements, with the content changing constantly.
ONE
Circle time
The day opens together — songs, the weather, the calendar, and everyone’s name said aloud.
TWO
Storytime
Books read together, then talked about. The single strongest predictor of later reading.
THREE
Thematic activity
The focused part of the day, tied to the current unit — making, counting, investigating.
FOUR
Free play
Child-led time indoors and outdoors, where teachers watch and quietly extend what children choose.
EARLY INTERVENTION
The ACT Programme
Individualised support for children from 18 months to six years with developmental, sensory or physical needs — delivered inside inclusive classrooms alongside their peers, never separated from them.
Assess
We begin by understanding the child as they are — strengths first, then the areas where support will help most.
Care
Support is delivered warmly and consistently, by staff who know the child and work closely with the family.
Tailor
The plan adjusts as the child grows, because early years development rarely moves in a straight line.
FACILITIES
Rooms built for small people
Every room is fully equipped and designed around children’s health, safety and comfort, with developmentally appropriate toys, equipment and materials chosen for each age group. Cameras run throughout the centre, so parents can look in on the day whenever they want to.
